INSURANCE:

Maine Law requires that your contractor, as well as any subcontractors, carry Workman's Compensation Insurance for their employees.

Your contractor, as well as any subcontractors, should also carry Comprehensive Liability Insurance to protect persons and property in the proximity of their work.

You should request a certificate of insurance from your contractor before any work begins, and have your insurance agent review it with you to be sure you will be fully protected.

Make sure that you also review the overall project with your insurance agent and ask his/ her advice on any additional property insurance you may need.
